Hayden was ready for his first day of Kindergarten. He packed his own lunch last night and he was excited to go! This was the only time his glasses were on all day. I guess we have to work on that.
Okay guys, enough with the camera! Oh, did I mention, Brendan video taped him from putting his backpack on at home and entire walk to this point!
Sending him off...no parents allowed! I must say I peaked in the window just to see my big boy walk right in without looking back.
After school got scary for a moment. We were told that the Kindergarten kids that walk home will be in the yellow box waiting for pick up. We were told, you can't miss it. Well we waited near the back with all the other parents but did not see a yellow box. Finally, I just confirmed we were in the right place with another mom. She said it is where all the kids except Kindergarten comes out. Oops, we had to go to the front of the building. When we got there, we found the yellow box with a bunch of kids corralled. We saw Hayden's teacher but no Hayden. I happened to glace behind me to notice that Hayden was walking in a line that was about to get on a bus!!! I ran with mommy speed towards him. He ran to me and started to cry. The lady in charge of his line said that he told her he was not supposed to ride the bus but she said he had a yellow bus #3 sticker on his backpack so she had to bring him. He also told her that he saw us waiting at the other part of the school. I guess he started to cry because he was scared he was getting on a bus and no one would listen to him. We reassured him that we would always be there for him. We were also very proud that he spoke up when he knew something was not right because he is usually so shy around people he does not know. After a walk home holding both of our hands tight, we got a cookie and talked about his first day. It sounds like he had a great time!
