Minnesota Thanksgiving Trip

We had a wonderful, cold, snowy Thanksgiving with our cousins!

Every Thanksgiving, the Minneapolis Star Tribune has a full page turkey and one of my favorite Thanksgiving memories was to color it each year. This year, we put papa on a mission to collect as many turkeys as possible. He collected some from the neighbors and the rest from the coffee shop. The adults had to settle for turkey's printed off on the computer. But we all had fun and there were enough turkey's for all!

Yes, even the big girls wanted to color a turkey too!

Success! We had a lot of colorful turkey's!

Great Grandma Bea and Kensley Bea are checking each other out for the first time!

Great Grandma and her 7 Great Grandkids!

Many games were played in a few short days. Above, the kids are playing the telephone game for the first time. Below, is a great game of 13 in a pile and 4 (one of many card games played) and Wynnlee is playing HiHo Cherrio (she had more company earlier).

The boys always love to wrestle with Papa and tackle him all at once!

But this grandkid just wanted to snuggle on Papa. He was so excited because she is the first grand-daughter not to cry the first year+ when Papa tried to hold her.

Our last morning in Minnesota we celebrated Papa's birthday with his favorite meal, breakfast buffet! (He also got banana cream pie last night). He is having a hard time getting closer to his 60th next year so he decided to sit at the kids table and continue to be a kid at heart!

Boy did we luck out on traveling. We arrived at the DC airport on Wednesday late morning to fine not one person in line check-in and not one person in line for security. We were beginning to think we came on the wrong day. They said the rush was first thing in the morning and there would be another one later. We hit it perfectly. After an hour delay to board, we had a great flight. The kids were great flyers and I was across the isle with Kensley and got both seats so we could stretch out. Kensley slept from take off until landing!

Our return flight was just as good. A little security line, but then right on to the plane. This time, the person in the seat next to me was offered to move up to an emergency exit row so again we could have an extra seat to stretch. Kensley and Abby slept from take off to landing! Thankfully we did avoid the busy Sunday return and came home on Saturday!
We miss everyone already, but a great time was had by all!
